The Winners of the Republican Conference the “RA National Strategy for the Protection of Human Rights: Prospects and Challenges” were awarded: the Participants received Certificates
Ms Syuzanna Soghomonyan, “Promoting Direct Democracy for Strengthening Human Rights in Armenia” Project Manager, Fellow of the “Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility” Project of the EU, handed certificates and awards to the participants and winners of the Republican Conference the “RA National Strategy for the Protection of Human Rights: Prospects and Challenges”.
More than two dozen students from different regions of Armenia participated in the written round of the conference, and seven of them passed to the oral stage: Miss Nare Smbatyan (French University in Armenia, Faculty of Law), Miss Victoria Hakobjanyan (YSU, Postgraduate Studies in Law), Miss Mariam Karapetyan (Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University, Faculty of Law), Mr. Ori Bakunts (State University of Goris) University, Faculty of History and Geography), Miss Saida Ohanjanyan (Goris State University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences), Miss Varduhi Suvaryan (Gyumri “Progress” University, Faculty of Law).
It should be noted that the participants of the conference had presented their reports, talking about the prohibition of torture, protection of health, education, life and other fundamental rights, the guarantees of the independence of judges. They presented the current state of the topics they had selected the existing problems in the sphere, the proposals aimed at their solution.
The award “Conference Winner” was handed to Miss Victoria Hakobjanyan, for the report on the right to health protection. Miss Nare Smbatyan, was the second and was awarded the second prize of the Conference for the report on the judges’ pension as a social guarantee. Miss Saida Ohanjanyan received a certificate for the honorable third place, and the award; the topic of her report was thde study on the right to education.
The other participants of the conference received certificates of participation.
Syuzanna Soghomonyan congratulated the participants, welcomed their participation in such educational events, and advised them to conduct a multi-faceted and comprehensive research on each issue. She also emphasized the participation of non-law students in the conference, as human rights belong to everyone, regardless of the profession.
